Demorest, GA - Despite having a 5-3 lead through six innings, the Lions were unable to hold on against the Hawks of Huntingdon College dropping the second game of the series 8-5 in extra innings. The Hawks scored three in the top of the tenth inning to go on to victory at Loudermilk Field. 

The Hawks looked to be cruising early with a 3-0 lead after the second inning but the Lions began to chip away with a run in the third inning and tied the game in the fourth at 3-3. Piedmont added a pair in the sixth inning to take the lead as EVAN GRESHAM reached on a sacrifice fielder's choice scoring BRADY BALLSTADT and later a wild pitch advanced Gresham to second and scored GRIFFIN OLSON.

The lead was safe at 5-4 after the Hawks added a run in the seventh inning as the top of the frame came to an end on a caught stealing, ending the threat. However, Huntingdon added another run in the eighth inning to tie the contest at 5-5 and neither team was able to manage a run in the ninth forcing extra innings. 

The Lions had a pair of outs in the top of the tenth with two runners on after a pair of singles when an error at second loaded the bases. The Hawks drove in a pair of runs on a two-RBI single, and tacked on another run with an RBI single. All runs in the tenth inning were unearned as JOSH THOMAS took the loss pitching 1.2 innings giving up four hits and three unearned runs. 

Turning Point
--An error in the top of the tenth inning kept the inning alive for the Hawks as they came around to score three with two outs.

Standout Performances
--WILL SKIDMORE, BRADY BALLSTADT and GRIFFIN OLSON all were 2-for-4 in the contest as Ballstadt had a pair of runs scored and Olson had a run and an RBI.

Inside the Box Score
--BEN MCCURLEY pitched six innings for the Lions giving up just four hits, three runs with none earned, and struck out three. 

News & Notes
--The Lions dropped the series to Huntingdon with the loss Saturday.

Game three, the final one of the series, is set for first pitch at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Loudermilk.
