Birmingham, AL - The Piedmont College women's basketball team fell on the road to the Panthers of Birmingham Southern 61-55 Friday in Alabama. 

The two teams played even in the first quarter with the scored tied at 11,but it was BSC's Taydra Holt that put up a layup with only six seconds on the clock to put the Panthers ahead to end the quarter 13-11. 

The Lady Lions were unable to close the gap with the Panthers until the clock showed two and a half minutes left until half time. This short time sparked the offense with a 3-pointer from BRIDGETTE KELLY followed by quick layups from CARLIE SHIELDS and Jazmine Lawrence putting Piedmont ahead 23-21 with just over a minute to play. 

Shields would bucket five more points on her own before heading to the locker room for the halftime break with Piedmont leading 27-25.

Out of the locker room the teams battled with the lead changing six times in the opening five minutes of the third quarter. The last of those lead changes came when the Panther's Jothani Dixon hit two in a row from downtown putting BSC ahead 39-32. 

As the fourth quarter ticked away, BRIDGETTE KELLY and Carlie Shields hit back-to-back threes to put the Lady Lions down by one possession 53-50 with 6:30 showing on the clock. However, PC was not able to close the gap with the Panthers taking the game 61-55.

Turning Point
-- The Panthers boosted ahead of the Lady Lions off back-to-back threes from Jothani Dixon late in the third quarter. 

Standout Performances
-- CARLIE SHIELDS dominated the points category from both teams with a career high 23 points in the contest.
-- BRIANNA BARRETT tabbed 8 rebounds for the Lady Lions, six of which gained possession for PC. 

Inside the Box Score
-- BSC moved the ball well in the contest notching 16 assists to the Lady Lions 9.
-- The Panthers shot 66.7 % from three point land in the 4th quarter.
 
News & Notes
-- This game marks the first loss for the Lady Lions against the BSC Panthers taking the series record to 5-1.

--PC will make the trip to Charlotte, North Carolina on December 16th to play Johnson & Wales at 6 PM.
