Charlotte, NC - Just two days off the one-year anniversary of the last match-up with the Wildcats of Johnson and Wales University, the Piedmont College women's basketball team faced the Charlotte-based opponent this time around winning 86-77 earlier Friday evening in Carolina.

With this match-up taking place at the home of the Wildcats, last year's showdown against the Florida-based Johnson and Wales came in a neutral site meeting in the Cruizin' Classic down in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  

Piedmont held on to win that contest on December 18, 2015 by a 78-76 margin spurred by four Lady Lions in double-figures including BRIANNA BARRETT who had 15 points and seven assists when the two faced each other a year ago. 

Barrett and the Lady Lions again came out on top in this round of the series held earlier Friday evening as it was a nine-point margin that separated these two this time with Piedmont moving to 5-3 overall after the win.  

PC now moves on to face a pair of conference foes in non-conference action with the Green and Gold traveling to Danville, Virginia for the Averett East-West Classic taking on the host Cougars of Averett University Monday after facing Ferrum College on Sunday. 

Turning Point
--A 25-point explosion in the 3rd by PC set the two apart in Charlotte as Piedmont went on to close out the Wildcats for the victory away from the Cave.

Standout Performances
--CARLY SALES' 24 points paced the Lady Lions as she connected on better than 65% from the field in the road contest.
--BRIANNA BARRETT poured in 20 of her own shooting over 60% as well hitting on four of six tries from downtown.

Inside the Box Score
--Piedmont shot over 43% in the contest including a 50% showing from beyond the 3-point arc as a team.
 
News & Notes
--Johnson & Wales came into tonight's contest with a 2-3 record in their last five games while PC was 4-1 in its last five.

Up Next
--A pair of non-conference games with conference affiliated programs as PC crosses over into the USA South East Division to play in the Averett East-West Classic hosted by Averett University in Danville, Virginia.  The showdown features the Lady Lions, the host Cougars of Averett, Ferrum College, and Maryville College with the Scots representing the West along with PC.  Piedmont first faces Ferrum on Sunday, December 18 at 1:00 pm before taking on the host Cougars the following day at 3:00 pm.
