Location: Greenville, South Carolina - Bob Jones University

Greenville, S.C. - Thanks to a career-best 27 points from JUSTIN VALLEJO, the Piedmont College men's basketball team picked up a big road win Friday night taking down Bob Jones University 95-91. The Lions held on in the final minutes going 6-of-8 from the charity stripe in the final 34 seconds of the contest.

It was a tight contest most of the way but the Lions built a small lead in the early going as they were up by as many as eight with 13:58 remaining in the first half after a 3-pointer by NICK RYAN, his first in his career at Piedmont. A quick run by the Bruins brought that lead to just two points, but TAYLOR MILLS drained a 3-pointer to put it back to a five point contest.

It was never closer than a three point game in favor of Piedmont until Bob Jones' Nate Ellenwood made a layup and hit a free throw on his and-one opportunity to tie the game at 27 with 6:50 to play in the first half. The Lions went on an 11-2 run after that to go up by nine thanks to back-to-back CHASE ENGLAND 3-pointers as he finished with five in the contest.

The Bruins scored five straight to end the half making it 42-40 Piedmont at the break. England drained another from behind the arc just seconds into the second half but the Bruins fought back to tie the contest at 45. A 9-0 run by Piedmont built back a sizeable lead and a TRAE GAINES 3-pointer gave them a 10 point advantage, their largest of the game, with 16:09 to play.

Bob Jones continued to fight back making it a three point game with just under 14:00 remaining and took the lead at the 10:40 mark. The Bruins went up by three but a PEYTON LUKEN 3-pointer evened it up yet again.

It was free throw shots and 3-pointers that determined the outcome down the stretch. Piedmont had eight 3-pointers in the second half to the Bruins' three and went 17-of-22 in the second half at the line while holding Bob Jones to just eight points at the charity stripe after halftime.

Piedmont's final 20 points came from behind the arc or at the free throw line in the final 6:12 of the game.

Turning Point
--PEYTON LUKEN hit a pair of free throws with 10 seconds left to make it a three point game and force a quick look from 3-point range by the Bruins who missed the shot and fouled when Vallejo pulled in the rebound.

Standout Performance
--JUSTIN VALLEJO had a career-best 27-point performance on Friday while adding seven rebounds.
--CHASE ENGLAND posted 19 points going 5-of-9 from behind the arc making 50% or better of his 3-point shots in each half.

Inside the Box Score
--Both teams had four players in double figures but Vallejo was the lone player to score over 20.

News & Notes
--This marked the first road win of the season for Piedmont as they play their next four on the road as well.
