Demorest, GA - The Piedmont College women's basketball team hit the court for day two of the USA South/SAA Classic where the Lady Lions surged in the third to beat Berry 76-69.

The Lady Lions struck first putting in a quick four, but the Vikings kept fighting and, after six made threes, the distance shooting kept PC from closing the gap with the Vikings at a six point advantage early in the 1st.

The Vikings came into the second quarter looking to continue the distance attack with a quick three pointer less than 30-seconds into the quarter. A layup from CARLIE SHIELDS would be the last of the Lady Lions scoring for a four minute lull in Piedmont offense broken eventually by Carly Sales later in the period.

During the stretch Berry put away 11 points extending their lead. With seconds left on the clock in the second quarter, Berry struck again with a Rosie Lynch fastbreak lay-in to finish the half 34-46. 

After a regrouping in the locker room during halftime, PC came out firing when BRIANNA BARRETT nailed one from downtown to start the third with less than 30 seconds ticking off the clock. The hometown ladies then went for a ten point run annihilating the gap that was built in the second quarter.

With under two minutes to go in the third, the Lady Lions and the Vikings battled back and forth making the crowd noise grow as Piedmont trailed by only one point going into the final quarter. 

An early Vikings layup was quickly countered by the long range shooting of BRIDGETTE KELLY knocking one down from three point land. JATASIA BAILEY copied her teammate putting three in less than a minute later to put the Lady Lions ahead 61-60.

As the Piedmont lead grew, the hot hands that the Vikings looked to in the first half cooled off, and the Lady Lions continued to exploit the lapse in defense in the late minutes scoring 14 in the final four minutes. The second half offense explosion gave the Lady Lions the victory 76-69.

Turning Point
-- The Lady Lions put 21 points on the board in the third quarter to the Vikings 10 sparked by a BRIANNA BARRETT 3-pointer that started the period off for PC. 

Standout Performances
-- BRIDGETTE KELLY had the touch for PC in the contest with a career high 21 points on 60% shooting from the field.  
-- DAKOTA SULLENS went to work under the basket tying her career high with 12 rebounds in the contest while also pouring in nine points.

Inside the Box Score
-- PC went 8-for-10 from the field in their comeback quarter.
-- This was the highest points total for the Lady Lions since February of 2016.

-- The Lady Lions sweep the USA South/SAA Classic with after beating Oglethorpe on November 26 and Berry on November 27.
