Montgomery, AL -  The Piedmont College women's soccer team was able to keep the Hawks of Huntingdon College off the board earlier Saturday in a 2-0 win on the road to improve to 8-2-1 in league action.

Piedmont took an early lead on quality combinations through the middle that sprung loose SAVANNAH CASTLES who finished over the oncoming Hawks keeper for a 1-0 lead.  

Possession was controlled by the Lady Lions throughout but especially in the first half before play opened up in the second half with Piedmont piling on 13 shots to just one for the Hawks.  

One of those 13 was an absolute rocket off the foot of SHAYNA HEALY who doubled the lead in the 62nd minute when the junior smashed one to the near upper corner as PC went on to claim a 2-0 win on the road.  

Turning Point
--SAVANNAH CASTLES' score in the 10th minute was all the visitors needed to get the win on the road as the veteran leads PC this season with seven goals.

Standout Performances
--The Piedmont back four and freshman keeper CIERRA BELINKIE as the defense collected another shutout, the third in the last five games.
--Starting midfielders MORGAN EDELMAN, JAZMIN PENADO, and TORI GILLETT who created chance after chance for the Lady Lion attack. 

Inside the Box Score
--Piedmont was dominant in the second half outshooting the home team 13 to one after only four combined shots in the first half. 

News & Notes
--The Lady Lions are 20-1 against the Hawks since 2003 with a familiar face responsible for the lone loss in the series as Head Coach Stephen Andrew led Huntingdon to a win in 2007 when Andrew was the coach for the Alabama-based program before returning to Demorest to lead Piedmont.

Up Next
A trip back up into Georgia as the Lady Lions face LaGrange College on the road on Sunday, October 16 for another conference contest.  Kickoff is set for 3:30 pm at Panther Field with live stats for fans unable to make the trip courtesy of the Office of Sports Information at LaGrange.
