Demorest, GA - The win-streak continued for the Lady Lions as they extended it to seven straight victories with a 73-64 win against Averett University Saturday. Piedmont withstood a fourth-quarter comeback that saw the Cougars outscore Piedmont 21-11.

It was a low scoring affair through the first quarter as it was a 2-2 game through the first five minutes. The Lady Lions led by nine heading into the second quarter and maintained an eight point lead at the break after a pair of 3-pointers by JATASIA BAILEY in the final 2:30 minutes of the second quarter.

Another Bailey 3-pointer gave Piedmont its largest lead to that point of 17 with just over a minute remaining in the third period. Bailey ended with nine points going 3-of-4 from 3-point range. 

Piedmont did not score until the 4:26 mark of the fourth quarter after a 6-0 run by Averett. Averett scored 25 second chance points while the Lady Lions had just two, and the Cougars also had 23 offensive rebounds while Piedmont had just seven. 

Turning Point
--A 26 point third quarter for the Lady Lions put the game out of reach as Piedmont held its largest lead of 20 points with 35 seconds remaining in the third.

Standout Performances
--MARY KATE RUSHTON scored 17 to lead the Lady Lions, her third-best total of the season.

Inside the Box Score
--Piedmont shot 47% from the floor while the defense held the Cougars to just 28%.

News & Notes
--The Lady Lions tied a program-best 6-0 start in USA South play needing just one win to set a new mark since joining the league in 2012-13.
