Location: LaGrange, Georgia - Mariotti Gym

Demorest, GA - The Piedmont College women's basketball team started fast and ended on a strong note to seal a 58-51 win over LaGrange College earlier Wednesday evening to stay perfect in USA South play.

Piedmont held a four-point edge over the Panthers after a quarter but a push by the home team in the 3rd kept LaGrange within striking distance in the mid-week contest.  However, PC started the 4th quarter on a 7-0 run to distance themselves from the hosting Panthers.

Though LaGrange would cut it to four with under two to play, Piedmont held the Panthers scoreless over the final 1:23 forcing a turnover and three missed attempts from the field to seal the victory.

The win extends a season-best eight-game winning streak for the Lady Lions who have not dropped a decision since a December 18 loss to Johnson & Wales.  Piedmont is also now off to its best USA South start as well since joining the league in 2012-13 having won its first seven conference contests this season.

Turning Point
--Up by two heading into the 4th, Piedmont opened the final period on a 7-0 run that set the tone for the 7-point win on the road to stay perfect in USA South play.

Standout Performances
--MARY KATE RUSHTON scored a game-high 20 points shooting 40% from beyond the arc in the win.
--LE'SHAUNDA JONES continues to turn up the heat defensively collecting six steals on the evening while also scoring eight points on 50% shooting.

Inside the Box Score
--Piedmont shot 35% from beyond the arc, its best shooting performance from three-point land since a December 19 win over Webster.
--The advantage for Piedmont came in the 1st and 4th quarters tonight as the Lady Lions held a nine-point edge in those two periods combined.

News & Notes
--The Lady Lions are off to their best start in USA South play since becoming a league member four years ago sitting at now 7-0 in conference action.
--The only remaining undefeated team in league play along with PC is Maryville...the 13th ranked Scots visit Cave Arena on February 3.
