Huntingdon held an 11-6 edge with almost six minutes gone in the opening period, but Piedmont went on a 9-0 run to overtake the Hawks highlighted by a
CARLY SALES old-fashioned three-point play. Â Sales scored five of the nine in the run as PC pulled out in front though the two would finish the quarter tied at 16.
Piedmont started fast in the 2nd scoring the first six points in the period on the way to holding a half-dozen lead at the halftime break. The catalyst for the jump in the 2nd was the play of
LE'SHAUNDA JONES who scored six of her team-high 14 in the period.
The Jones show continued after the break with Le'Shaunda picking up two steal-and-scores in the quarter as Piedmont started to pull away leading by nine entering the 4th. Â Though Huntingdon would pull as close as five early in the quarter, a
MARY KATE RUSHTON three-pointer put the Lady Lions back up by eight as Piedmont started to push the lead into double-digit territory icing the 10-point win with free throws down the stretch.
Turning Point--With Huntingdon closing in during the 4th quarter,
MARY KATE RUSHTON hit a bucket from downtown to answer the visitors' run helping Piedmont to hold off the Hawks in USA South action.
Standout Performances--
LE'SHAUNDA JONES tallied five steals for the second time in three games while also scoring a team-high 14 points on five-of-eight shooting from the field.

TAYLOR SWOSZOWSKI shot the ball well hitting on four-of-six tries from the field for 12 points...The senior also hit on four of five free throw tries.
Inside the Box Score--
BRIANNA BARRETT was the rebounding leader with nine boards topping the team in the column for just the second time this season.
--Barrett and Jones combined once again to haunt the nightmares of opposing offenses with nine steals between them as each are top five in the league in that category.
News & Notes--The Lady Lions are currently riding a six-game winning streak with their last loss coming on December 18 against Johnson & Wales in the Cruizin Classic.
--Piedmont is one win away from tying its program-best 6-0 start in USA South play from last season with two more wins to this current streak setting a new mark since becoming a league member in 2012-13.Up NextA week before the Lady Lions return to the court against Averett University at home on Saturday, January 16 in Cave Arena.
