Need to KnowScore: Piedmont 2 - Bridgwater 1Records: Lady Lions 3-0, Eagles 1-2Location: Maryville, Tennessee - Scotland YardMaryville, TN - With a late push and score in the final minutes by newcomer CASSIDY REICH, the Piedmont College women's soccer team was able to get a key non-conference win early in the season defeating Bridgewater College earlier today 2-1 at the Maryville College Fall Invitational.A member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference out of Virginia, Bridgewater was picked 3rd in the league this season after posting a 16-4 record in the 2014 season.
The Lady Lions took the lead in the first half after
MORGAN EDELMAN converted a penalty kick awarded to PC in the 31st minute, but Bridgewater was able to draw level in the 2nd half just under 10 minutes in when Michelle Viegas scored off a long cross from the left side.
Now level on the board, a
KATIE DAVINE through-ball found classmate and fellow newcomer Cassid Reich streak to the left side putting the youngster in a great position to give Piedmont back the lead. Reich converted with a score to the far post handing Piedmont the 2-1 decision in the neutral site match.
Turning Point-Reich's score in the 81st minute, her third goal of the season and her first gamewinner since joining the squad this fall.
Standout Performances-
MORGAN EDELMAN played all but seven minutes of today's win and converted a penalty kick in the first half to give Piedmont a 1-0 lead.

KATIE DAVINE picked up her first career assist on the helper to Reich's goal in the 81st.
Inside the Box Score-The goal allowed by PC today is the first goal given up by the Lady Lions in the last seven games as the last score allowed by PC came on October 24 against Greensboro in 2014.
-Shots were even on the day with Bridgewater posting 12 to Piedmont's 11 though the Lady Lions did put seven of those on target compared to four from Bridgewater.
-Nearly every column was equal on the stat sheet with Piedmont earning three corners to two for the Eagles.
News & Notes-Today was the first meeting for the Lady Lions with Bridgewater in the school's NCAA Era which began with the 2003 season.
-Bridgewater was a winner of 16 games last season with one of its four losses coming against the 2014 undefeated National Champion, Lynchburg.
-Piedmont has allowed two goals in its last 11 games dating back to 2014. Up NextA much anticipated home opener against a rare foe on the schedule, Maine Maritime Academy. The contest comes this coming Friday, September 11 with kickoff slated for 7:00 pm under the lights at Walker Athletic Complex.
