The win keeps Head Coach Stephen Andrew undefeated in home openers as well with Piedmont now having outscored its opponents 14-1 in its 4-0 start to the 2015 season.
MORGAN EDELMAN accounted for the gamewinner scoring off a Piedmont corner kick in the first half to notch her second career goal in as many games.
With a 1-0 lead at halftime, veteran
MEGAN HATFIELD helped pad the lead with a score in the 49th that doubled Piedmont's advantage and gave her a third goal in 2015. A third score sealed the win when
HALEY HALL dropped a moon shot over the head of the Mariners' keeper from 30 yards back and just in front of the touchline where the home fans cheered on the Green and Gold.
Though the 3-0 win pushes Piedmont to 4-0, perhaps the toughest test lies next on the schedule as the Lady Lions face Berry College, a perennial power in the South Region, on Tuesday evening in Rome, Georgia.

MORGAN EDELMAN's finish on a
CASSIDY REICH corner kick handed Piedmont a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute of play, the third time this season that the Lady Lions had scored in 12 minutes or less.
Standout Performances--For Edelman, it's the second straight game she has scored Piedmont's first goal of the contest.

News & Notes--MORGAN EDELMAN had not scored in 42 career games before her penalty kick in a 2-1 win over Bridgewater, but she has now scored in each of Piedmont's last two outings.
--This evening's matchup with the Mariners is the first such meeting between the two programs on the pitch.
--Coming into the night, Piedmont had averaged better than 3 goals per game offensively.Up NextA South Region juggernaut in Berry College on Tuesday, September 15 with kickoff in Rome, Georgia set for 5:00 pm. The Vikings are perhaps the only team off to a better start than Piedmont as Berry is 2-0-1 with 10 goals for and only one goal allowed. That single score came in a 1-1 tie with Christopher Newport, a team that made the NCAA Tournament field last season.
