Volleyball Sweeps Another USA South Tri-Match Against Huntingdon & LaGrange

LaGrange, GA - In a pair of five set matches, the Piedmont College volleyball team proved victorious against Huntingdon College and LaGrange College. The Lady Lions dropped the first two sets in both matches but rebounded to force five sets and took two wins.

Piedmont's first win of the day came against Huntingdon in a 14-25, 22-25, 25-16, 25-20, 15-6 decision. The Lady Lions had a dominating 15 blocks in the game to the Hawks three marking a season high for Piedmont. AMANDA TROTTER led the way with five blocks while TAYLOR CRAMSEY added four.


EMILY PETERS had 30 of Piedmont's 36 assists while also tying for a team-best three aces. HEATHER LAPRADE collected 13 digs and made her mark around the court with three aces and two assists as well.

Against LaGrange, the sets were 20-25, 15-25, 25-21, 28-26, 15-10 in Piedmont's fourth USA South victory of the season moving their conference record to 4-1. In that fourth set, it took extra points to decide but the Lady Lions stayed alive and earned a hard-fought win.

Piedmont had 54 kills in the match against the Panthers with MALLORY LEARY leading the way with 14 while TAYLOR CRAMSEY added 13 and KATELYN DURMIRE had 11. KAITLYN LOESEL had a double-double in the match with 11 assists and 18 digs. 

Turning Point
--Piedmont dropped the first two sets in each of the day's matches but came back to win three straight to take the match.

Standout Performances
--MALLORY LEARY led the team in kills in both matches with nine against Huntingdon and 14 against LaGrange while adding 3 blocks against both teams.
--EMILY PETERS had 30 of Piedmont's 36 assists against Huntingdon and added another 36 in the match against LaGrange to lead the team in both matches.

Inside the Box Score
--HANNAH SKENDZIEL posted the best attack percentage of the day with a .500 against Huntingdon with eight kills.
--KAITLYN LOESEL had an impressive outing against LaGrange posting a double double with 11 assists and 18 digs while also adding two aces.

News & Notes
--Piedmont had a near season-high in kills against LaGrange with 54 (season-high was 58 against William Peace).
--The Lady Lions had their best blocking match against Huntingdon of the season with a total of 15 blocks.


Up Next
The Lady Lions are now 8-7 with a home non-conference tri-match on slate next for Saturday, October 3 against Emory & Henry and Wesleyan College.
