William Peace went 9-10 a year ago in the USA South while N.C. Wesleyan was 6-13MATCH FACTS This marks the first time since joining the USA South that Piedmont has begun the conference schedule facing these two opponents. The Lady Lions ended the regular season last year against these two in Cave Arena with a pair of victories. In the first six victories of the season, William Peace has swept its opponents while N.C. Wesleyan lost its first three contests before winning two of the last three.
THE COACHES William Peace Head Coach Kevin Daniels is entering his sixth season with the Pacers where he currently serves as the Associate Director of Athletics and the Head Volleyball Coach. Daniels helped the WPU volleyball program reach new heights in 2013 with a 22-11 overall record, which eclipsed the school's previous single-season win total of 16. Last season, the Pacers were 9-10 in the league and 13-22 overall.
N.C. Wesleyan Head Coach Vicky Gentile is entering her first season as the helm of the program after serving four seasons as an assistant with the Battling Bishops. She joined NCWC in 2011 after serving in a similar capacity at Baldwin Wallace University, and upon her arrival in Rocky Mount, the Ohio native promptly helped guide the Bishops to back-to-back 20-win seasons. Gentile is a 2008 graduate of Clarion University where she excelled as a defensive specialist for a Clarion team that made the NCAA tournament in each of her four seasons.
Sid Feldman is in his seventh season as the head coach at Piedmont College and posts an impressive 473-236 record of his own through 20 campaigns as a head coach. Feldman's career is truly one of volleyball's best amongst the collegiate ranks as he has coached more than 700 matches in now 20 years with three different institutions with experience at the NCAA Division I and III levels as well as the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Following a historic season in 2013 where he led the Lady Lions to a record 28 wins, Feldman was in the top-50 among active Division III coaches in career winning percentage. The Lady Lions once again hit 20 wins in 2014 to give the program 10 straight seasons hitting or eclipsing the 20-win mark.
SCOUTING WILLIAM PEACE AND N.C. WESLEYANThe Peace Pacers sit at 6-3 after a tough loss to Saint Augustine's University on Wednesday night 3-2.
