Demorest, GA - Piedmont's 12-game undefeated streak to the start the year came to an end on Friday afternoon following a 2-1 loss to the Avenging Angels of Meredith College in USA South action for the Green and Gold.

Playing at home in the first of three demanding conference contests, the Lady Lions took a 1-0 lead just before halftime on JAZMIN PENADO's left-footed finish to the near post after CASSIDY REICH bent a free kick just inside the wall.

Despite taking the advantage in an even first half, the momentum swung to the visitors following a red card issued in the 55th minute causing PC to play down a man for more than 35 minutes of the second half.

Meredith would take advantage of the extra man scoring on two set piece chances to earn the 2-1 victory over Piedmont outshooting the home team 9-3 in the final period.

Turning Point
--Meredith's first goal which came with just about 23 minutes remaining and leveled the board with the Avenging Angels still holding a one-man advantage.

Standout Performances
--JAZMIN PENADO scored her third goal of the season with the score just before the halftime break.
--CASSIDY REICH picked up her conference-leading 10th assist of the year on the Piedmont goal and led the team in shots taking three of the team's eight on the afternoon.

Inside the Box Score
--Meredith held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks including a 3-0 mark in the first half.
--Piedmont mostly found the target with six of its eight shots hitting the frame as Meredith keeper Jaisa Loch was forced to make five saves in the contest.

News & Notes
--The loss ends Piedmont's 20-game unbeaten streak stretching back to October 6 of 2014, a 19-0-1 record that the Lady Lions put together over two seasons.
--The streak is the longest in the history of the program dating back to the early 1990's.
--Entering the day, Piedmont was one of only four undefeated teams in the country in Division III out of more than 425 teams.
--For Meredith, the win is its fourth straight with all four coming in conference play.
