First Half Offense Sends Lady Lion Soccer Past Local Foe Toccoa Falls 3-0

Demorest, GA - Piedmont picked up three first half goals on Tuesday night in a 3-0 shutout of Toccoa Falls College before a packed house at Walker Athletic Complex on Youth Night to earn their 12th straight victory to start the 2015 season.

CASSIDY REICH scored just seven minutes in after TABEA SOELTER slipped a through ball behind the Toccoa back four with Reich slotting away her first score of the evening.  Reich would score on a header 16 minutes later nodding away a TORI GILLETT corner kick, the first of two corners that Piedmont scored on in the first half.

The second came off the head of MORGAN EDELMAN who blasted away her fourth goal of the year with a score in the 43rd minute.  After Edelman's goal, the Lady Lions coasted to the 3-0 shutout with ASHLYN ATNIP getting the decision in goal, her first career solo shutout and Piedmont's 10th in 12 games to start the year.


Turning Point
--The contest swung the Lady Lions' way early with CASSIDY REICH slotting away her first score of the night in the 7th minute of play.

Standout Performances
--CASSIDY REICH had two goals on the evening to extend her lead in the USA South totals with now 11 on the year, two ahead of Meredith's Jessica Wallace.
--TORI GILLETT had two assists on the evening as well, both coming on corner kicks for Piedmont. 

Inside the Box Score
--The Lady Lions had 11 corners in the contest without conceding a single one to the Screaming Eagles. 
--MORGAN EDELMAN scored her fourth goal of the season on a header in the 44th minute of play to hand Piedmont a 3-0 lead.

News & Notes
--Piedmont's unbeaten streak now stretches a full calendar year as PC's last loss came on October 6 of 2014 against Berry 4-2. 
--The Lady Lions are 19-0-1 in that same stretch.


Up Next
Perhaps one of the most anticipated matchups of the season as Piedmont hosts Meredith on Friday at 4:00 pm.  The Avenging Angels are ranked second in the USA South standings with 15 points through five games undefeated in league play.
