Box Score 2 MONTGOMERY, Alabama - The Piedmont College baseball team traveled to non-conference host Huntingdon College this afternoon and dropped a pair of games by the scores of 5-3 and 6-2. The home standing Hawks posted 17 hits and 11 runs en route to the double header sweep.
Huntingdon struck first with a single run in the third before the Lions knotted the score 1-1 in the fourth on a #Kevin D'Antignac" RBI-single. After the Hawks posted single runs in the fifth and sixth, Piedmont answered with two runs in the seventh on RBI's from
Tate Koons and
Josh Bailey.
The Hawks would take the final lead of the game with two unearned runs in the eighth and hold the Lions scoreless for the 5-3 decision.
In the opener starter
Kevin Caldwell took the no-decision going six full innings allowing only three earned runs while striking out a pair.
In the finale Huntingdon jumped ahead with three runs in the third and two in the fourth. The Lions would cut the margin to 5-2 with single runs in the fifth and sixth but could get no closer. After an insurance run in the eighth the Hawks walked away with the four-run victory.
D'Antignac led the offense going 3-7 with two runs batted in while Koons matched him with a pair of runs.
Austin Brick also chipped-in going 2-4 with a run scored.
The Lions, now 19-20 overall, will finish the three-game series tomorrow, April 21st with game time scheduled for 1:00 CST.
