Josh Bailey Hit a Walk-Off Single in the 12th to Down Ferrum
Box Score DEMOREST, Georgia -- The Piedmont College baseball team defeated USA South Conference foe Ferrum College 4-3 Friday evening in Demorest.  The Lions earned the victory by virtue of a walk-off hit in the bottom of the 12th inning.  The win marks the Lions first extra-inning home victory of the season.

Piedmont struck first in the contest by way of a Michael Barnes single that plated Austin Brick in the bottom of the fourth to go up 1-0.  Ferrum would quickly answer back with a run in the top of the fifth to even the score at 1-1.  Ferrum would also add two runs in the top of the seventh to go up on the Lions 3-1.

Matt Youtsey would produce an RBI single in the seventh to inch the Lions within a run of the Panthers (3-2).  The Ferrum pitching staff managed to hold the Lions at bay until the bottom of the ninth when Will Skidmore scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 3-3.

Both teams remained silent in the 10th and 11th innings, but Piedmont's Josh Bailey would come up big with a walk-off single that scored Keith Grabowski in the bottom half of the 12th to earn the victory.

Piedmont was led offensively by Josh Bailey who went 2-6 at the dish with an RBI.  Austin Brick also added two hits and a run for the Lions.  Senior Kevin Caldwell pitched nine innings allowing three earned runs while striking out four.  Josh Thomas earned the win for the Lions.

Piedmont (13-11, 10-6 USA South) will be back in action when they take the field Saturday afternoon at 2 PM in a double header match-up at home with Ferrum.
