Piedmont Claims Series From Methodist University, 4-1

Sophomore Keith Grabowski led the Lions going 1-3 with a run and an RBI as the team defeated Methodist University 4-1.
Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, North Carolina - In the thrid and final game of the USA South Conference series with host Methodist University the Piedmont College baseball team earned a 4-1 this afternoon. The Lions held the Monarchs to one run on five hits en route to their eighth conference victory of the season.

Piedmont took the lead for good in the top of the first as Keith Grabowski walked and later scored as Casey Parham drove his teammate in with an RBI-groundout. The Lions would add another single run in the third as Grabowski drove in Tate Koons with a sharp single to left.

Methodist would plate their lone run of the game in the fourth cutting the deficit to 2-1 but the Lions would quickly respond with two runs on as many hits in the fifth as Josh Bailey and Michael Barnes drove in runs.

Starter Matt Lisk went eight strong innings allowing only one earned run while striking out eight before Josh Thomas picked up his second save with a scoreless ninth that featured a strikeout. Grabowski paced the offense going 1-3 with a run and RBI respectively while Bailey added a 2-5 day with a run batter in.

The victory moves Piedmont to 11-8 overall and 8-4 in the USA South Conference. The Lions will hit the road again for a non-conference matchup with Covenant College on Tuesday, March 12 starting at 3:00.
