GREENSBORO, North Carolina - The Piedmont College baseball team earned its first USA South Conference victory this evening by the score of 3-1 over host Greensboro College. The Lions were able to manufacture three single runs on eight hits while the pitching staff scattered only five hits en route to the win.
Senior
KEVIN CALDWELL went six full innings allowing one run on five hits while striking out 10 for his second win of the season. Tonight's victory for Caldwell tied the righthander for the most career wins (19) by a Lion in the NCAA era. Freshman
JOSH THOMAS went the final three innings facing the minimum while striking out a pair for his first career save.
The Lions took the lead with a single run in the fourth as
JOSH BAILEY singled and later scored on a defensive error. After a scoreless home-half the Lions added another run as
GARRETT LOVELACE drew a bases loaded RBI-walk plating
KEITH GRABOWSKI. After Greensboro cut the lead in half in the seventh PC responded with a single run in the eighth on a Bailey RBI-single.

LOGAN PETHEL led the offense with a pair of hits respectively while
MATT YOUTSEY and Grabowski added single hits apiece.
The victory moves Piedmont to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the USA South Conference. These two teams will square-off in the second game of the three-game series tomorrow, February 9 starting at 1:00.
