Lady Lions End Season with USA South Win at William Peace 74-57

Box Score RALEIGH, North Carolina -- The Piedmont women's basketball program closed out the season with a 74-57 win at USA South host William Peace this afternoon in Raleigh.  The Lady Lions controlled the action and used an impressive 35 points from the bench en route to the road victory.

The first half of play was a back-and-forth affair until Piedmont managed to rally a 9-1 run, punctuated by a three-point shot by MARY KATE RUSHTON with 2:06 left in the first frame.  The Lions would ride the momentum of their late first half run into half time up 43-31. 

Piedmont would continue to build upon their lead in the second half by virtue of an 11-2 run midway through the second half.  The Pacers would answer with a late 11-0 run of their own but the Lions would whether the Pacers scoring flurry to come away with the USA South victory.

The Lady Lions reserves outscored the Pacers reserves 35-8 in the contest to provide sound support for the Pride starters.  Piedmont also produced 20 points off turnovers compared to Williams Peace's 6 points.

Leading the Lions in scoring in her last appearance for the Pride was ALYSSA JONES, who netted 14 points.  Jones also grabbed seven boards and tallied seven assists on the night.  Senior LAUREN ANDERSON was also in double-figures for the Lady Lions, scoring 10 points on five of ten shooting from the floor.  CHANDLER ALVERSON came off the bench to chip in with 10 points to round out the scoring leaders for Piedmont. 

William Peace placed four Pacers in double-figures, led by Krystal Williams who put up 12 points.  Derrica Jones, Callie Yohn, and Rachel Lyons each scored 10 points a piece to round out the top scorers for Peace.

The Lady Lions wrap-up the season 10-14 overall and 5-12 in the USA South Conference.
