DEMOREST, Georgia -- The Piedmont College baseball team fell to Lynchburg College by a count of 6-1 this evening at Loudermilk Field.  On a windy cold night at the Hornets of Lynchburg College were able to out-hit the Lions 11-6 and played flawless defense to post the victory.

In a game that did not see a single multi-run inning by either team, it was Lynchburg that struck first in the top half of the opening inning with a lead-off home run by Ashton Paige.  The Hornets would go on to add a run in five of the first six innings to take command of the game.

The Pride would struggle to get things going offensively until the seventh inning, when MATT YOUTSEY singled to plate TUCKER EHMIG who had doubled earlier in the frame.  The Lions managed to move runners into scoring position on several occasions, but were held at bay by the Hornets pitching staff that was led by starter Martin Henderlite, who pitched six shutout innings while allowing just two hits.

LOGAN PETHEL led the offense going 2-4 at the plate.  Despite Lynchburg's 11 hits, the Lions pitching staff allowed only two earned runs on the night.

Piedmont (3-4) will conclude their weekend homestand against #6 ranked Birmingham-Southern College on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 PM.
