Demorest, GA - For the second straight year of their membership in the USA South Athletic Conference, both Piedmont College soccer programs will participate in the league's year-end Championship Tournament starting tomorrow afternoon. The men's team will leave today for their quarterfinal matchup with the tourney's top seed in the Methodist University Monarchs while the women will await the arrival of Greensboro College who comes to Demorest Saturday afternoon for the Lady Lions' home postseason contest.
Seeded 8th in the USA South Men's Soccer Championship Tournament, the Lions are hoping to upset the tourney favorite Methodist Monarchs when they travel up to Fayetteville, North Carolina to play in their quarterfinal matchup tomorrow afternoon. The November 2nd contest is set for a 2:30 pm start time on the Methodist campus. Fans can follow the match as it occurs via

The Piedmont men's soccer team carries a 6-11 overall record and a 3-6 conference record into the match while Methodist, who owns the championship's number one seed, comes into the game at 9-6-2 overall with a 7-1-1 mark in conference play. The two played to a tight 1-0 decision earlier this season with Methodist coming out on top holding a slim four shot advantage in the contest. With the afternoon match on November 2nd, Methodist will begin its defense of their USA South tournament title from a year ago as the Monarchs look to make the NCAA National Tournament field for a second consecutive year as well.
Seeded 2nd in the USA South Women's Soccer Championship Tournament, the Lady Lions will play host to 7th seeded Greensboro College who comes to town after PC just paid the Pride a visit in North Carolina, an overtime affair that went the way of Piedmont 1-0. Tomorrow's home women's soccer quarterfinal with the Pride is set for a 2:00 pm start at Walker Athletic Complex. Since the contest is a USA South postseason match, there will be a cost of admission with adults paying $6 while students, children, faculty, staff, and seniors all will be charged $3.
The Piedmont women's soccer team heads into tomorrow's match with Greensboro with a 14-2-2 overall record, a top 25 winning percentage amongst all NCAA Division III programs. With a 9-1-2 mark in USA South play, the Lady Lions face a Greensboro team that finished the regular season with an 8-7-1 record including a 7-4-1 mark in league action to earn the tourney's #7 seed. Last season PC finished their year in the quarterfinal round as the #5 seed before earning the right to host a quarterfinal this season with their nine league wins second only to the 10 of the tourney's top seed, Maryville College.
