Box Score ATLANTA, Georgia -- The Piedmont College volleyball team dropped a tough 3-2 decision to host Oglethorpe University this evening as the Stormy Petrels rallied from down two sets to take the non-conference victory 16-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-22 and 15-6.
After breezing through the first two sets, Piedmont saw OU pick up their game in front of the home fans in Oglethorpe's 2012 season opener. In the fourth the Stormy Petrels strung together three consecutive points to force the decisive fifth set after a 22-22 deadlock
JENNIFER OPPER had a solid night offensively and led the charge with seven kills and a pair of solo blocks.
PAIGE ESLINGER posted a team-high 20 digs to lead the way defensively. Freshman
TAYLOR CRAMSEY continued her strong offensive play with a team-high eight kills.
The loss drops Piedmont to 3-2 overall on the season with the team returning to action on Saturday, September 8 when the team plays host to a non-conference tri-match in the Johnny Mize Athletic Center. Piedmont will face Judson (AL) College at 12:00 noon before capping the afternoon with a 4:00 first serve against former conference foe Spelman College.
