Box Score 2 MONTGOMERY, Alabama -- The Piedmont College volleyball team split a pair of matches this afternoon in the team's final non-conference tune up before USA South play opens next weekend. PC dropped a 3-0 decision to Covenant College before rebounding to down host Huntingdon College 3-0.
In the opener, Covenant evened the season series at a match apiece with a 25-22, 25-20, 25-17 victory.
KAITLIN NORMAN recorded 10 kills.
KATHERYN KNARR posted 12 assists while
XANDY GREEN added seven helpers. Defensively Norman (14) and
KATIE BYRD (12) combined for 26 digs. Knarr and Norman also tallied a service ace apiece.
Piedmont rebounded with an easy 25-14, 25-18, 25-19 victory.
ASHLEY FANNON recored six kills to lead the offense with Knarr (13) and Green (14) recording 27 assists.
PAIGE ESLINGER (19) and Norman (13) were the team leaders in digs while
JENNIFER OPPER posted two solo blocks.
The split moves Piedmont to 10-4 overall on the season with the team's next action being a USA South Athletic Conference tri-match at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA. PC will open its first-ever season of USA South play with matches against the host and Meredith College.
