Box Score DEMOREST, Georgia -- The Piedmont College men's soccer team moved to 4-2-1 on the season with a 4-1 non-conference victory tonight over the visiting Bruins of Bob Jones University.
SIDNEY SMITH highlighted the win with a hat-trick of goals to lead the offensive output.
After Smith opened the scoring in the game's 20th minute, BJU was able to equalize on a goal by Travis Woodham just four minutes before halftime. The Lions would regain the momentum on a
JUSTIN WHITAKER goal with just 12 seconds before intermission. Whitaker was able to punch in a rebound following a BJU save.
The second half was all Smith as he finished the hat-trick with a pair of goals in the 48th and 74th minute.
KENNETH HEARN earned the victory in goal posting five saves on six shots. PC outshot Bob Jones 12-10 but the Bruins took all five of the game's corner kicks.
"The best thing for us tonight was that we were able to finish our chances. This was good home win for us tonight," stated head coach
Jimmy Stephens.
Piedmont returns to action on Sunday, September 23rd with a 3:00 tilt against Millsaps College.
