Piedmont College Athletic Communications

The PC men's soccer team fought to a 1-1 2OT draw this afternoon in the team's USA South season-opener.
Box Score FERRUM, Virginia -- The Piedmont College men's soccer team opened the conference portion of its schedule this afternoon with a 1-1 double overtime draw with host Ferrum College in the school's first-ever contest as a member of the USA South Athletic Conference.

JAMES THOMAS' header goal on an assist from VINCENT THOMAS in the game's 42nd minute was the lone score of the first half until the host Panthers equalized just four minutes into the second period on a penalty kick by Christian Turcios.   The PK was awarded after a Ferrum pass in side the box struck a PC player's hand.

The conference game was physical as the teams were whistled for 38 combined fouls in 110:00 of action.

KENNETH HEARN went the distance in goal for the Lions as he turned away four Panther shots.

The draw moves the Lions to 3-1-1, 0-0-1 USA South on the season.

Piedmont will return to action on Tuesday, September 18 when the team travels down to Atlanta to take on Oglethorpe University with kick off set for 5:00 PM.
