Piedmont College Athletic Communications

The PC men's soccer team could only muster two shots on goal by Sidney Smith in the Lion's 2012 season-opening 1-0 loss to Hendrix.
Box Score MARYVILLE, Tennessee – The Piedmont College men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Hendrix College to open the season in a neutral match held at Maryville College.  Hendrix scored the game winner in the 50th minute and held off a late flurry from the Lions to secure the victory.

Hendrix held a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal and pitched its second consecutive shutout in two days.

PC's was able to punch through the potential equalizer with under a minute left in regulation but the goal was called back due to an offsides infraction.

Freshman GK KENNETH HEARN was solid in the pipes as he tallied nine saves.  SIDNEY SMITH was the lone Lion to record a shot on goal as the senior midfielder had two shots turned away.

Piedmont will return to action on Thursday, September 6 when the team makes the short trip over to Toccoa, GA to take on local rival Toccoa Falls College with kick off set for 7:00 PM.
