Piedmont College Athletic Communications

Jessie Jenkins collected his second double-double of the season with a 22 point and 13 rebound outing in the Lions' 78-72 loss to Warren Wilson.
Box Score DEMOREST, Georgia -- The Piedmont College men's basketball team dropped a hard-fought 78-72 non-conference decision to visiting Warren Wilson College this evening in Cave Arena.  The Owls used an 11-2 second half run to gain control of the game and hold off the Lions for their sixth win of the season.

The Lions opened the game on fire offensively connecting on 59% (16-27) of their shots before intermission including 7-13 (54%) from behind the three-point line.  Piedmont was able to extend its game-high lead to 12 points (34-22) with 6:26 remaining in the first only to see WWC battle back to a single possession game at half (42-41).

Warren Wilson would use an 11-2 run early in the half to extend its lead to nine points as the Lions cooled off shooting connecting on just 9-34 (27%) after half.  A free throw by JESSIE JENKINS with 3:17 cut the Owls' lead down to a single point after trialing by as many as 11 but WWC responded with a pair of three-pointers by Raysean Love that provided the necessary cushion for victory.

Jenkins led all scorers with a game-high 22 on 8-14 shooting from the floor.  The sophomore guard capped his second double-double of the season with a team-best 13 rebounds as well.  TYLER ARNOLD and ALTON HONORS II also reached double-figures with 13 and 12 respectively.  KEVIN KUBANDI came off the bench to provide the Lions with a spark as the junior guard collected a season-high 14 points highlighted by 4-7 from three.  WILL SKAGGS dished out a season-best 11 assists.

WWC placed four in double-figures led by Anthony Barringer's double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds.  Ty Johnson came off the bench to score 16 while Timur Oktay and Rashad Ali added 11 and 10 respectively.  Love finished the game with nine points all on threes.

Piedmont outrebounded WWC 41-37 and held a positive assist to turnover ratio (19-16) on the night.

Piedmont (0-5) returns to action on short rest with trip down to Atlanta on Saturday, December 8 to face Emory University with tip off set for 7:00 PM in EU's Woodruff PE Center.
