Box Score MARYVILLE, Tennessee -- The Piedmont College men's soccer team dropped a hard-fought 2-1 decision at Maryville College this evening in USA South Athletic Conference action.
BRADLEY THOMAS scored with eight minutes remaining but the Lions could not find the equalizer late.
Maryville jumped out to a very quick 1-0 lead just 29 seconds into the game when the Scots were able to punch in a cross in the first action of the game. In the 19th minute, PC had a chance to equalize, but a penatly kick from
JUSTIN WHITAKER bounced off the cross bar. Maryville would extend its halftime lead to 2-0 with another goal in the 39th minute.
BRADLEY THOMAS scored his first goal of the season as he pounded the ball in from 25 yards out. Piedmont was able to put a few shots on goal in the final minutes but could not force the extra time.
The loss is the fifth straight for the Lions as they drop to 4-7-1 overall and 0-3-1 in USA South play while Maryville improves to 4-6-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
