Box Score 2 DEMOREST, Georgia -- The Piedmont College volleyball team split a pair of USA South Athletic Conference home matches Saturday falling 3-0 to NC Wesleyan College before rebounding for a decisive 3-0 victory over Ferrum College. The split moves PC to 20-11 overall and 6-5 USA South and assures the Lady Lions of the fifth-seed in the upcoming USA South Championship Tournament.
In the opener, NC Wesleyan recorded the 28-26, 25-22, 25-22 victory behind 20 kills from Meredith Smith. Anna Hart added 13 kills while Kristi Lucas totaled 35 assists. For Piedmont,
KAITLIN NORMAN tallied 16 kills with
JENNIFER OPPER adding seven.
XANDY GREEN (16) and
ASHLEY FANNON (15) combined for 31 assists while Eslinger grabbed 18 digs. Green rounded out her second double-double of the season with another 18 digs.
COURTNEY BRADSHAW was effective at the net posting three solo block and three assisted blocks.
In the finale, Piedmont breezed past Ferrum 25-18, 26-24, 25-14 as
TAYLOR CRAMSEY posted a team-high nine kills. Norman and
MALLORY LEARY each added eight apiece while Bradshaw pitched in with seven. Fannon (14) and Green (13) again orchestrated the PC offense to the tune of 27 assists while Norman picked up 16 digs.
KATIE BYRD recorded a team-best three assists.
Piedmont will conclude the regular season with an October 30 road trip to NCAA Division II Clark Atlanta University before heading to Martinsville, VA November 2-4 for the USA South Fall Festival. The fifth-seeded Lady Lions will take on fourth-seeded Averett University at 3:00 PM on Friday at Patrick Henry Community College.
