Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, North Carolina -- The Piedmont College men's soccer team was held scoreless as host Methodist University posted a 3-0 USA South Athletic Conference win this afternoon at the MU Soccerplex. The loss drops Piedmont to 4-8-2 overall and 0-4-2 in league play.
Methodist scored in the game's 11th minute and was able to punch through another header goal following a cross with just 2.6 seconds left in the period to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
MU would tack on a third goal in the game's 76th minute for the final margin.
The victory was MU's 11th of the season as the Monarchs are ranked eighth in the latest NSCAA regional poll. Methodist outshot Piedmont 17-1 on the day and held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
"This was a decent weekend for us because we got a result yesterday and that is what we wanted with two tough regionally-ranked opponents this weekend," stated head coach
Jimmy Stephens.
Piedmont returns to action on Friday, October 19 when the Lions host Huntingdon College in non-conference action at Walker Field with kick off set for 7:00 PM.
