Box Score 2 FAYETTEVILLE, North Carolina -- The Piedmont College volleyball team split a pair of USA South Athletic Conference matches this afternoon cruising past host Methodist University 3-0 before dropping a tough 3-2 decision to Greensboro College. The split moves Piedmont to 17-7 overall and 4-2 in league play on the season.
In the opener, the Lady Lions breezed 25-15, 25-13, 25-13 behing an impressive offensive output from
KAITLIN NORMAN as she totaled 14 kills on 24 swings for a .500 hitting percentage.
JENNIFER OPPER added five kills while
ASHLEY FANNON recorded a match-high three service aces.
KATHERYN KNARR pitched in with a double-double of 13 assists to go along with 13 digs.
In the second match, Greensboro rallied from an 11-5 fifth set deficit to finish the match on a 10-1 run and down Piedmont 25-22, 17-25, 16-25, 25-17, 15-12.
COURTNEY BRADSHAW and
MALLORY LEARY each posted 13 kills to lead the team with Norman adding nine more. Knarr (20) and
XANDY GREEN (13) dished out 33 combined assists while
PAIGE ESLINGER led the way with 31 digs.
Piedmont returns to action on Tuesday, October 16 when the team hosts Brenau University in Cave Arena at 7:00 PM.
