Men's Soccer Battles Conference Leader To Hard Fought Draw

The PC men's soccer team battled host NC Wesleyan to a 3-3 draw this afternoon in USA South action.
Box Score ROCKY MOUNT, North Carolina -- The Piedmont College men's soccer team battled the USA South Athletic Conference leader NC Wesleyan College to a tough 3-3 double overtime draw.  The decision moves Piedmont to 4-7-2, 0-3-2 USA South while the host Bishops, ranked #5 in the latest NSCAA regional rankings, move to 7-1-2, 3-0-1 USA South. 

Piedmont's STEPHEN SHERFY opened the scoring just four minutes into the contest with the assist credited to HARES HUSSEINI.  NC Wesleyan's Christian Boayke would equalize in the 27th minute before SEAN MELTON's unassisted goal would give the Lions the 2-1 halftime advantage.

Malick Chune's unassisted goal nine minutes into the second frame would again tie the score but in the 63rd minute JUSTIN WHITAKER would feed VINCENT THOMAS with a back heel assist to give the Lions their third lead of the game at 3-2.  The final equalizer would come  with just four minutes remaining in regulation when the Lions attempted to clear a free kick. 

Neither team could collect the game's golden goal with Piedmont's KENNETH HEARN recording a tough upper 90 save in the second overtime to secure the draw. 

NC Wesleyan held advantages in both shots (27-21) and corners (10-8).  Hearn recorded nine saves in 110:00 of action.

Piedmont will complete the conference road swing with a 4:00 match at Methodist University.
