Demorest, GA -- The Piedmont Colege baseball team made it two in a row at Loudermilk Field to start the season taking a 7-5 decision over the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan College earlier this evening.  The Lions allowed three ninth inning runs but closed the door on a VWC attempt at a rally with a pair of strikeouts to end the night giving the home fans a second win in as many nights.

Starting pitcher Caleb Cochran turned in a solid seven inning performance for skipper Jim Peeples allowing just three hits and a pair of earned runs.  Cochran made the Marlins earn their offensive output as he walked just a single batter while striking out six.  Matt Collins picked up his second save of the season fanning the final two Marlin batters to help PC seal the deal.

At the plate, Piedmont was led by youngster Josh Bailey who stepped in to connect on two of his four appearances at the plate.  In just his second start at the home stadium of the Lions, Bailey gave veteran production with a pair of RBIs while scoring once himself.

Outfielder Kyle Davis continued to have succes at the plate going three for four while scoring a pair of runs and batting in another.  In Piedmont's two games at home, Davis is now 7-for-9 with two of those hits going for extra bases as the sophomore has scored five times and collected three RBIs.

Seniors Kevin McConnell and Curtis Cornett each knocked home a Lion baserunner combining to go two for seven at the dish.  Centerfielder Dave Bartek extended his hitting streak to five games going two for three with a RBI and a run scored.

The victory moves Piedmont to 4-3 on the season and a perfect 2-0 at Loudermilk Field.  The Lions will try to make it three in a row at home when they host the ninth ranked Panthers of Birmingham Southern College on Sunday, February 20 for a 4:00 first pitch.
