Macon, GA -- Piedmont College Head Volleyball Coach Sid Feldman has added yet another milestone to his incredible collegiate coaching career picking up his 400th win with a victory over Wesleyan College earlier this afternoon.  The Lady Lions helped their leader get the 400th when they knocked off the Great South Athletic Conference member Pioneers in a 3-0 game placing Feldman amongst the game's winningest coaches of all-time.

As the former head coach of the volleyball programs at the University of Georgia and Brenau University, Feldman collected 338 wins prior to arriving in Demorest to take over the reins of the Piedmont volleyball program and still ranks as the winningest coach in the history of the UGA volleyball program in terms of total wins and winning percentage.

Since arriving at PC, Feldman has established himself as one of the premier coaches the program has ever seen winning 62 of 93 games for a .667 winning percentage in now three seasons as the Lady Lions head coach.   The veteran volleyball mind's winning percentage is the best of any Piedmont volleyball coach who spent more than one season at PC, and his 61 wins ranks him second all-time in program history behind Katie O'Brien's 178 victories in 8 seasons.

"Well I was so busy concentrating on Maryville I completely forgot about the milestone," said Feldman of the victory. "It was truly an honor to see the parents so appreciative and that's what made the milestone so important."

Feldman's 400 wins puts him 39th among active NCAA Division III head coaches while his 400 wins puts him 35th on the same list.  Despite all the milestones he's reached in his career, Feldman puts the credit right to the talented line of players he's had under his guidance over 16 seasons as a college coach.

"He's just worked so hard to get to this point, but he always gives all the players credit for his success," said senior outside hitter Rachel Powell of her head coach's accomplishment. "It's been an absolute priviledge to share this milestone with him."

The victory put Piedmont at 18-8 snapping a five-game slide for the 2011 squad who also moved to a perfect 5-0 in conference play setting up a meeting with the league's only other remaining undefeated team in the Scots of Maryville whom Feldman has had his eye since the two squads began the season.  Maryville came into the afternoon matchup at 17-6 overall with a recent 11 game win streak under their belt which was only snapped by one of the nation's top five teams in Emory University.

Led by long-time Head Coach Kandis Schram who earned her own coaching milestone earlier this season getting her 600th win on September 14th, Maryville handed PC its first conference loss of the season defeating the Lady Lions in three.  The 3-0 loss drops Piedmont from the list of undefeated conference teams sitting now at 5-1 in GSAC play.

PC returns to the court on Tuesday, October 18th when they Lady Lions travel south to Rome, GA for a rematch with in-state foe Berry College.  Piedmont won the first matchup between the two clubs in 2011 back on September 13th in the Lady Lions' home opener 3-1 over the Vikings.  First serve in the October 18th contest is set for 7:00 pm.
