Demorest, GA --
The Piedmont College men's soccer team gave the Monarchs of Methodist University all they could handle this afternoon but could not put a win on the board dropping a 4-2 match at Walker Field.  Piedmont struck first in only the 4th minute of play, but the visitors then rattled off four straight scores to come away with the victory.

Within the first five minutes of the match, freshman Justin Whitaker earned his sixth goal of the season off a long ball from classmate Miles Flynn.  However, Methodist would answer with two scores of their own in the 9th and 11th minutes respectively before adding a third goal just before intermission.

In the second half of play, the visiting Monarchs would again find the back of the net in the 63rd minute to push their lead to 4-1.  Junior midfielder Nick Weatherby would keep hope alive for the Lions with his second goal in as many days coming in the 82nd minute, but PC could not recover from Methodist's earlier attack falling 4-2 to the visitors.

Weatherby led the way on the offensive end with a trio of shots on goal while junior goalkeeper Brian Gaid collected seven saves.  Freshman Mason Flynn also served between the posts for PC earning his way to five saves while allowing a single score.

With the loss, Piedmont falls to 7-4 on the season.  The Lions will look to rebound with a win in their next match as the squad opens league play with a Great South Athletic Conference battle against Huntingdon College on Saturday, October 2. Kickoff is set for 3:00 at Walker Field.
