Atlanta, GA -- The Piedmont College volleyball team had little trouble rolling to a 3-0 victory over local rival Oglethorpe University this evening on the road. A balanced attack and solid defensive play gave the Lady Lions their seventh victory of the season and improved their record against teams from the state of Georgia to 2-2.
After swiping a 25-21 win in the first set of tonight's match with the Stormy Petrels, the Lady Lions would not look back cruising to a 25-19 victory in set number two. PC then closed out the match in the third set with a 25-18 decision to defeat the home team.
Freshman setter
Katheryn Knarr controlled the offensive attack for PC with 18 assists while also grabbing 10 digs defensively. Senior outside hitter
Kalin DeMarrais also put in an all-around performance posting 15 digs to go along with eight kills.
Putting up solid numbers on the defensive end was sophomore defensive specialist
Paige Eslinger who earned 27 digs on the evening. Junior
Erin Krause put seven kills up on the board while senior right side hitter
Heather Stafford continued her recent hot streak posting ten kills to push her total to 30 over her last three matches.
With the victory, Coach Feldman's squad moves to 7-6 on the season and will kick off conference play in their next action on the court. The Lady Lions travel to Maryville, TN for a Great South Athletic Conference tri-match on Saturday, September 25 beginning with a 3:00 match against Wesleyan College. PC will then face the host Scots of Maryville College in a 5:00 face-off.
