Atlanta, GA --
The Piedmont College men's soccer team fell by a 3-2 score on the road to the Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe University earlier this afternoon. After allowing the first three goals of the contest, the Lions would storm back with a pair of goals to close within a score but ran out of time dropping the one goal decision to the host Stormy Petrels.

Despite a save by PC goalkeeper Mason Flynn on a penalty kick early in the first half, PC allowed the opening score in the 32nd minute of play to provide the home team with a 1-0 advantage. After Oglethorpe tallied a pair of goals in just a few minutes late in the second half, the Lions would get on the board in the 76th minute as junior Nick Weatherby found the back of the net on a pass from sophomore forward Sidney Smith.

Just five minutes later, Piedmont would cut the host team's advantage to just a single score as Smith and Weatherby combined again with the sophomore on the scoring end this time around. However, the Lions were unable find the equalizer eventually falling 3-2 to the Stormy Petrels.

With the loss, Piedmont falls to 4-2 on the season. The Lions will look to bounce back with a win on Saturday, September 18 as they travel to Virginia for a 5:00 match against Warren Wilson College to open play in the Ferrum College Invitational.
