Lady Lions Wrap Up Greensboro Invitational With Pair Of Wins

Freshman setter Katherine Knarr posted a career-high 31 assists in a 3-1 win over Guilford College earlier today as the Lady Lions moved to 5-4 overall.

The Piedmont College volleyball team rebounded from a tough start at the Greensboro Invitational to rack up two victories on Saturday afternoon over a pair of NCAA-Division III region opponents.  After putting away Guilford 3-1 earlier in the day, PC would later make quick work of Peace College defeating the Pacers 3-0 to even their tournament showing at 2-2.

In PC's game against Guilford College, the Lady Lions held off the Quakers in the first two sets 27-25 and 25-23 before falling in the third 21-25.  Guilford would not have enough in the end as Piedmont eventually pulled away in set four 25-15 to take the match 3-1.

Senior Heather Stafford led the way at the net with 15 kills while newcomer Katheryn Knarr posted 31 total assists in the match, a season high for the freshman setter from Chickamauga, GA.

Later in the afternoon against Peace College, Piedmont would seize control of the match early on taking the first two sets 25-17 and 25-18.  The Pacers would battle battle back to close within a point of pushing the match to a fourth set but Piedmont again pulled away when it counted 28-26 to claim the 3-0 match win. 

Defensive specialist Jennifer Granlund oncse again made her presence felt on the court posting 33 digs to help her sqaud to their fifth victory of the season.  Senior Heather Stafford led the way offensively along with Erin Kraruse as both posted nine kills each in the win.

Now 5-4 overall, the Lady Lions will return to the court when they travel to Tigerville, SC for a 6:00 match with NCAA Division-II member school North Greenville Univeristy.
