Demorest, GA -- The Piedmont College volleyball team tasted sweet success with a win in their season opener against local rival Toccoa Falls College defeating the Eagles in straight sets 3-0. After a 25-8 game one in favor of the Lady Lions, Toccoa would keep the next two sets much tighter but eventually fell to PC in the first match of the season for both squads.
Taking the first set by a 25-8 margin, Piedmont then found themselves in a battle over the final two sets. The Eagles fought back to pull within three points of PC in the second set, but fell just short dropping a 25-21 score before eventually falling in the third set 25-19.

KALIN DEMARRAIS paced the Lady Lions with 11 kills while classmate
HEATHER STAFFORD and junior
Erin Krause both added five to the effort. DeMarrais finished the night with a .290 hitting percentage as the veteran outside hitter nears 700 kills for her collegiate career.

Ashton Nash made a splash in her Lady Lion debut tallying 15 assists and a trio of service aces.
Piedmont will travel to Birmingham College this weekend for the school's Hilltop Classic tournament with the Lady Lions squaring off against in-state foe Berry College at 1:00 on Saturday, September 4 to begin the competition.
