PC Women's Tennis Player Baldonado Earns Academic Honor From ITA

Tyler Baldonado grabbed Scholar-Athlete honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for the 2009-2010 academic year as announced by the association office.
Skillman, NJ -- TYLER BALDONADO has been honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as a Scholar-Athlete for the 2009-2010 academic school year. The dual-sport athlete received the award as a women's tennis player but also contributed on the court for Piedmont in the fall of 2009 for the Lady Lions volleyball team.

Baldonado, who just finished her Piedmont athletic career this past academic year, spent four years in green and gold while being honored as an Great South Athletic Conference All-Academic selection on six different occasions during her time on campus. Baldonado's accomplishments were not limited to the classroom as the veteran setter recorded 3,000 assists in her career as a PC volleyball player.

To be eligible for the ITA Scholar-Athlete award, a student-athlete must be a varsity letter winner, have a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present institution for at least two semesters (including freshman through senior year).

The ITA is the governing body of college tennis, overseeing men's and women's varsity tennis at NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and Junior/Community College. The organization is comprised of nearly 1,700 men's and women's coaches representing over 1,200 institutions across the country from all three NCAA Divisions, as well as the NAIA and Junior and Community Colleges. This national governing body oversees activities involving over 15,000 varsity college student-athletes. In addition to ITA collegiate coach members, the ITA welcomes collegiate varsity players, junior players, corporate, and affiliated membership of alumni, associate, college parents, conferences & associations, international federations, junior family and professional.
