Fayetteville, NC -- The Piedmont College baseball team split a road doubleheader this afternoon dropping a 10-8 decision to York College of Pennslyvania before grabbing a 13-8 victory over Methodist University in the nightcap. The Lions used 11 runs over the last two innings against Methodist to come from behind for its 21st win of the season.
In the game against York College of Pennslyvania, the Lions lost a two run decision despite a potent offensive display. Seniors
Daniel Rivera and
Corey Lindsey each went 2-4 at the bat with an RBI a piece while Rivera also scored two runs.
Sophomore Scott Haddock also contributed at the plate going 2-3 while batting in a run in the 10-8 loss.
In the Methodist game, Piedmont once again found themselves trailing but would use its powerful offense to seize control of the match up. Down by six runs in the top of the eighth, PC would tie the score at eight a piece as Scott Haddock went yard to bring in three runs.
The Lions never lost their offensive prowess as they added a five run ninth inning to seal the 13-8 victory on the road.
Ethan Miers also chipped in at the plate going 4-5 while scoring two runs to help Piedmont to the win.
With the split, the Lions move to 21-19 overall. Piedmont will finish the 2010 season with a doubleheader on Saturday, May 1 as the Lions once again take on York College of Pennslyvania and Methodist University with the first action slated to start at 1:00.
