Atlanta, GA -- The Piedmont College baseball team took its second straight decision from Emory University this afternoon defeating the Eagles by a 15-6 score. The Lions received fourteen runs from the first five batters of the order as they rolled to the nine run decision.
Piedmont hit the ground running scoring four runs in each of the first three innings while Emory gathered a lone score giving PC a 12-1 lead. Receiving offensive and defensive contributions from their veterans throughout the game, the Lions never looked back claiming an eventual 15-6 victory after racing out to the early advantage.
Piedmont's seniors led the way at the plate as
Daniel Rivera went 3-4 batting in four while scoring twice. Fellow seniors
Zach Kunz and
Jared Vermilya added a combined seven RBIs in the win.
On the mound, another senior contributed to the Lions' winning effort as
Josh McEachin grabbed his second victory of the season. McEachin allowed a single earned run in six innings of work while also collecting three strikeouts.
The win moves Piedmont to 14-12 overall. The Lions will look to complete the sweep of its in-state rival as Emory makes a second trip to Loudermilk Field in three days for a 1:00 matinee game on Saturday, April 3.
