Denison Edges Baseball In Thriller 8-7

Senior Corey Lindsey went 4-5 with a pair of extra base hits in the Lions' 8-7 loss to Denison this evening at Loudermilk Field.

Despite rallying from seven runs down to tie the score, the Piedmont College baseball team fell to visiting Denison University this evening at Loudermilk Field by the score of 8-7. The Lions gave up a single run in the ninth and left the bases loaded in the home half in the defeat.

The squad moves to 5-8 overall and will wrap up the Spring Break Challenge tomorrow, March 7th as they play host to Montclair State University starting at 5:00.

The visiting Big Red struck with a pair of runs in the first and added four more in the second and one in the third to take a commanding 7-0 lead. The Lions would post two runs in the fourth highlighted by a Corey Lindsey triple and a John Duke RBI-single.

PC would explode with five runs in the sixth to even the score earning five hits while swiping six bags. Three different Lions posted RBI's with the finale coming from Scott Haddock.

After a pair of scoreless innings the Big Red would post a single run in the top of the ninth to take the 8-7 lead. The Lions would load the bases with one out but left the tying run ninety feet away as the game ended on a double play.

Senior Josh McEachin took the hard-luck loss going six complete innings allowing one earned run while striking out nine hitters, seven of which were consecutive. Lindsey paced the offense with four hits, two of which went for extra bases.
