Greensboro, NC --
The Piedmont College baseball team claimed both games of a doubleheader at Greensboro College this afternoon knocking two home runs in the process.  The Lions put their offense on display in the first game winning 10-4 before finishing the day with an 8-7 come from behind victory in the second game.

In the first match up of the day, PC pitcher Spencer Shelton went the distance allowing only three earned runs off six hits.  Shelton also fanned five batters while recording the win moving him to 2-3 on the year.  Offensively, Kyle Davis led the way for the Lions going 2-5 at the bat including a two run homer in the top of the fourth inning.

Senior Jared Vermilya and sophomore Curtis Cornett also contributed from the plate going a combined 3-6 with Vermilya racking up two RBIs in the 10-4 win.

In the second game, Piedmont found itself trailing by two runs after seven innings.  The Lions would rally in the visiting half of the eighth to take an 8-7 advantage before holding the home team scoreless for the final two innings en route to the one run victory.

Matt Collins was awarded the win after tossing three innings in relief without allowing a single run.  The junior pitcher from Roswell, GA also recorded three strikeouts as he notched his first win of the season.

The Lions were led offensively by catcher Zac Stein who knocked a fourth inning grand slam in his lone hit of the day.  Right fielder Kyle Davis added on going 2-5 from the plate tallying an RBI while center fielder Corey Lindsey stole three bags.

The two wins move Piedmont to 7-10 overall while improving PC to 4-3 on the road this season.  The Lions will return to action on Sunday, March 14th as they again visit Greensboro College for the finale of a three game series.  Game time is set for 1:00.
