Jackson, MS -- After dropping the first game in extra innings the Piedmont College baseball team suffered its worst defeat of the season this afternoon at Millsaps College by the score of 10-3. The Lions committed three costly errors that led to six unearned runs en route to the seventh loss of the season.
Despite posting hits in the first two innings the Lions could not cross the plate before the Majors posted three runs on one hit in the third. After a scoreless fourth the home team exploded with five runs on three hits and a pair of costly errors in the fifth to extend the margin.
The Majors would add a pair of insurance runs on solo homers in the seventh and eighth and carry a 10-run lead into the ninth. The Lions would answer with three runs on four hits in the ninth but could not overcome the deficit.
For the game the Lions posted only seven hits while committing three errors and striking out 10 times.
Curtis Cornett went 2-2 at the plate while
Kyle Davis added a 1-3 day with a pair of stolen bases.
The loss slides Piedmont to 4-7 overall. The men will return to action on Tuesday, March 2nd as they travel to Sewanee-University of the South in Sewanee, TN starting at 12:00.
