Jackson, MS -- The Piedmont College baseball team saw its season long three-game winning streak come to an end this afternoon at non-conference host Millsaps College by the score of 6-5 in extra innings. In a back and forth contest the Majors held the Lions scoreless in their final three at-bats before leaving the visitors on the field in the 10th inning.
After the Majors scored single runs in the first two innings the Lions responded with a two-spot in the third as
John Duke drove in a pair with a single. In the fifth PC would add another two runs, the latter coming off an RBI-ground out from Duke.
Millsaps would retake the lead with three runs in the sixth before the Lions tied the score in the seventh as
Corey Lindsey stole a pair of bags and scored on a
Kyle Davis RBI.
In the top of the ninth the Lions threatened but saw the inning end on a close play at the plate. After both teams went scoreless in their next at-bats the Majors sealed the win with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the tenth for the win.
Reliever
Ed Cook took the tough-luck loss going three and two-thirds innings allowing only one run while scattering three hits. The loss moves the squad to 4-6 overall as these two teams will wrap up the season series tomorrow, February 28th starting at 2:00.
