Demorest, GA -- For the third consecutive game the Piedmont College baseball team came out on top, this afternoon against visiting ODAC member Washington & Lee University by the score of 6-3. After the Generals jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first two innings the Lions bullpen posted seven scoreless innings enabling the comeback.
The visitors jumped out with two runs in the first on as many hits and added a single unearned run in the second. The Lions answered with a single spot in the third and fourth with RBI's going to
Tate Koons and
Jared Vermilya.
PC took the final lead of the game in the fifth as
Kevin McConnell connected on a two-run single. The men would tack on two more in the sixth to cap the scoring.
Alex Beebe came out of the pen to go three and a third innings scattering three hits for the victory.
Ed Cook notched a hold going two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Closer
Matt Collins earned his first save of the season with a scoreless ninth.
Offensively Scott Haddock went 2-3 with a pair of runs scored and a stolen base while Vermilya went 2-4 with an RBI.
The Lions, now 4-5 overall, will travel to Millsaps College for a two-game series starting Saturday, February 27th in Jackson, MS starting at 2:00 CST.
