Lions Explode For Second Win 14-2 Over Virginia Wesleyan

Senior Zac Stein left the yard twice in the Lions' 14-2 victory over Virginia Wesleyan College this afternoon in Virginia Beach, VA.

The Piedmont College baseball team snapped a four-game winning streak this afternoon at Virginia Wesleyan College earning the 14-2 victory. The Lions pounded out 15 hits and scored in the first seven innings en route to the win.

After scoring singe runs in the first three innings the Marlins blasted a two-run homer to cut the margin to one. The Lions quickly responded with four runs in the fourth highlighted by a Jared Vermilya solo blast and a two-run single from John Duke.

The visitors added single spots in the next two innings and widened the margin in the seventh with five runs on four hits. The lead would stand for the remainder of the game as the Lions walked off with the 12-run victory.

Senior Zac Stein paced the offense going 3-4 with four runs batted in, three runs scored and a pair of homer runs. Kevin McConnell went 3-5 with three RBI's while Kyle Davis chipped-in scoring three runs and a pair of stolen bases.

Caleb Cochran picked his first victory of the season going seven complete innings allowing two earned runs while scattering five hits. The bullpen finished the game with two scoreless innings while striking out four hitters.

The Lions, now 2-5 overall, will complete the series with the Marlins tomorrow, February 21st with game-time scheduled for 12:00.
