Decatur, GA --
The Piedmont College volleyball team took its first action in the 2010 Great South Athletic Conference Championship Tournament earlier this afternoon 3-0 over the host Scotties of Agnes Scott College. The third-seeded Lady Lions did their part to keep the seeding true taking care of the sixth-seeded Scotties in a straight set decision.

Piedmont kicked off the match with a 25-14 decisive win in the opening set of the match before having to fight off an Agnes Scott rally in set number two to take a tight 25-21 victory. PC then would leave no doubt rolling to a 25-11 third set winner to take the match 3-0 overall.

At the net, Kalin DeMarrais was the kill leader with eight to go along with her seven digs. Fellow senior Heather Stafford also had an all-around day earning seven kills and eight digs to help PC past its quarterfinal opponent.

Paige Eslinger was the overall defensive leader on the floor as the sophomore libero grabbed 18 digs for the match. Stafford was tied for the lead in set assists on the team with 11 as freshman setter Katheryn Knarr also paced the squad.

With the win, the Lady Lions move to 18-13 overall on the year and move on in the GSAC Championship Tournament to the semifinal round where they will face the #2 seed Maryville College. That match is set for 6:00 at the host institution Agnes Scott College.
